At the end of 2021, the SAFER-U project (Strengthening the Aviation Framework and European Regulations for Ukraine) delivered two training activities; an Introduction to Air Operations and Organisation requirements (ARO+ORO) Training and Special Approvals for PBN Operations Training to the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine (SAAU) personnel and industry stakeholders.
Between 23rd and 25th November 2021, instructors from the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) delivered an Introduction to Air Operations and Organisation requirements (ARO+ORO) course for the staff of the SAAU. Mrs Silvia Troncoso, Head of the Air Operations Department of AESA, and Mr Jonathan Méndez, Head of the Commercial Air Transport Approval Department of AESA delivered the activity online, sharing their knowledge and experience on the application of the European Air Operations Regulation (Reg. (EU) 965/2012) and contributing to the SAAU’s regulatory harmonisation in this area. The training sessions covered Organisational Requirements for the Authority and the Operator’s (Parts ARO and ORO, respectively) of the European Regulations, in the context of Reg. (EU) 216/2008.
On 6th December, Captain Ben Bamber, Flight Operations Training Inspector from CAA International delivered a two-day training course in Kyiv on Special Approvals for PBN Operations Training to the SAAU inspectors involved in the oversight of air operations, in PBN approvals. The aim of the training was to review delegate understanding of and familiarity with the PBN concept, emplacement and NAA Approval process, with specific reference to best practice AOC regulation and understanding of the approval process as per EASA Part SPA, Regulation (EU) 965/2012.
